DIME’s work does not only pertain to academics and government policymakers.  Rather, it branches out to reach the interests of business associates and industry stakeholders. This approach to information dissemination is multi-faceted in hopes of informing as many influential people as possible, across many professions, regarding innovation and the knowledge economy. 

In this capacity, DIME has the SAL3: Structural Activity Line. This integrates ‘users’ of DIME research such as industry and intermediaries e.g. Regional and National Industry Ministries, Regional Development Agencies and industry or business associations. Although these users have the option of viewing the SAL3 articles under alternative headings, the SAL3 gathers the pertinent information for the target group to provide a concentrated, up-to-date understanding of the key issues.

When asked, the majority of potential SAL3 users, responded that they are interested in information on in-house 1-2 day training sessions, workshops, seminars, conferences and staff knowledge enhancement through reading research reports, reviews and digests on the following:

1. Regional & Local Innovation Systems and Strategies
2. Internal & External Organisational Learning Skills for Innovation
3. Measuring and Intervening in the Knowledge Economy
4. Evaluation of Economic Development Policy Instruments for Innovation
5. Entrepreneurship & Innovation Processes, Policies & Strategies
6. Clusters & Innovation in Biotechnology, ICT and other STI-based activity
7. Exploiting Research for Innovation Promotion & Economic Development
8. Innovation and the Creative or Cultural Industries
9. Understanding Knowledge Intensive Business Services (KIBS) Processes & Policies
10. Exploiting Global Knowledge Flows

Based on these needs, the SAL3 looks to provide working series papers on these topics, as well as current postings for upcoming workshops, and other related events.
